Hamilton still upbeat about race hopes

Lewis Hamilton said he remains optimistic about his Indian Grand Prix chances having gone second fastest in qualifying - which translates to fifth on the grid when his yellow flag penalty is applied. The McLaren driver knew the highest he could start would be fourth as he had been awarded a three-place grid penalty for going too fast through a yellow flag zone in Friday morning practice.

Coomans Doubles his (NVIDIA Cup) Pleasure

While Kelvin van der Linde scored his first overall victory of 2011 Season 3c at Okayama International Circuit, it was Jan Coomans who took away his second consecutive championship in the NVIDIA Cup. While this is Coomans’ second straight title, he has finished in the top two spots in the last four seasons, solidifying Coomans as one of, if not the top Mazda MX-5 sim racers on the service. What is not to be overlooked in all the championship celebration is van der Linde?s win. The 166 points he earned to best the other 1,800 drivers during Week Four were obtained during a 2651 Strength of Field (sof) race on Monday. Mallya brings driver decision forward

Vijay Mallya has brought forward a decision on Force India's 2012 driver line-up, after revealing he will now finalise the matter before the next race in Abu Dhabi. Massa tops second Indian GP practice

Felipe Massa put Ferrari on top as the Formula 1 teams continued to get to grips with India's Buddh International circuit in the second free practice session ahead of this weekend's inaugural grand prix in the nation. Jamie Green took his first victory of 2011 in the final DTM race of the season at Hockenheim. From the front row, the British driver out-dragged polesitter Miguel Molina into the first corner, and was never challenged throughout the rest of the 38-lap race. Official: 2012 Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain recalled over tire pressure monitors

General Motors is recalling nearly 34,000 2012 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain crossovers over improperly calibrated tire pressure monitoring sensors.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the monitors are required to be calibrated to illuminate a warning light any time a tire is inflated to 25 percent below the recommended level. The sensors in 2012 Equinox and Terrain models may not illuminate until the tire is much further below that threshold. NHTSA says that improperly inflated tires could lead to an accident due to premature wear and excess heat.

In addition, improperly inflated tires can reduce fuel economy and result in poor handling as well. GM will update the body control module on affected vehicles free of charge once the recall gets under way this month.

Of course, this is as good of a time as any to remind drivers to always check their tire pressure at regular intervals, regardless of what the light on the dash says. Hit the jump to see the full recall notice for yourself.

Menu tops opening Suzuka practice

Alain Menu topped the opening practice session at Suzuka, edging out the Polestar Volvo of Robert Dahlgren in the final minutes. Dahlgren had been the first driver to dip under the 54s barrier, going more than 0.3s clear of the field with five minutes to go. Newey, whose RB6 and RB7 designs have scooped up the last two drivers' and constructors' world titles with Sebastian Vettel, insisted that all focus is now going into the new RB8 project which he said would likely be influenced by the change in blown diffuser regulations for next year. "All our research is on next year, but if we find something that comes out of that in regards to this year's car we may choose to do so depending on whether it could give the game away," he said at the team's headquarters during its world title media event in Milton Keynes.
