Williams chairman Adam Parr says his team was unlikely to attend the Bahrain Grand Prix, had it not been cancelled earlier this week. Unrest in the country had called the event into doubt and it was eventually postponed on Monday, but several teams have indicated that they would not have travelled even if it had gone ahead. "The decision was right by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and if for whatever conceivable reason that hadn't been the decision, I don't think we would have [gone]," Parr told AUTOSPORT.

Stoner leads first day at Sepang
The works Honda team continued with its strong showing in pre-season testing, with Casey Stoner setting the pace on the opening day of running at Sepang on Tuesday. The Australian posted the quickest time with a lap of 2m00.987s, outpacing team-mate Dani Pedrosa by nearly four tenths of a second. Stoner resumed testing with the same set-up he had used on the final day in the first test, and spent the day alternating between the two chassis options he had at his disposal.

Date adjustment for final F1 test

In keeping with the times and the fact that most of its customers are using their iPhones and iPads and Blackberries like it's their job, Bentley has released a line of leather cases for these devices in conjunction with its hide supplier, Ettinger. The cases come in your choice of Bentley's Hotspur or Beluga - colors familiar to buyers of the Benley Continental Supersports. The cases are cut from the same material as Bentley's famous interiors, for which Ettinger is also responsible.
Ettinger has been spitting out hand-crafted leather pieces for 70 years now, so it's safe to say they know what they're doing. In addition to the line of mobile telecom holders, Ettinger makes Bentley wallets, passport holders, luggage tags, purses and the brand's keyholders.
All of Ettinger's accessories are handmade in the company's Birmingham, England factory. As expected, the Ettinger line is pretty dear, with the iPad case commanding $146. If you don't have an iPad but rock an iPhone or Blackberry, you're in luck, as Ettinger's smartphone cases command a more reasonable $73. Want more details? Stoner ends Sepang test on top
Casey Stoner completed his and Honda's domination of the Sepang test with the quickest time on the final day on Thursday. The Australian, who had been fastest on the first two days, continued with his impressive pre-season form by finishing on top of the times with a lap of 1m59.665s. Stoner finished ahead of team-mate Dani Pedrosa yet again, the Spaniard the only other man to break the two-minute barrier.

Ducati says it expects the upcoming Diavel to lead the company's sales in 2011, and with 162 horsepower propelling just 456 pounds, we imagine that the Italian bike maker won't have trouble finding homes for its latest creation. The Diavel, a performance cruiser, walks a fine line between face-ripping power and beautiful design. Now Ducati has given us all a glimpse into what it takes to put its new motorcycle on the road.
Using time-lapse video, we can follow the birth of a Ducati Diavel from a bare engine all the way to the menacing final product. Ducati says that it's cranking out around 40 Diavel units per day, though it hopes to increase production by around 50 percent as riding season kicks into gear. Here we are, just days before the doors open at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, and De Tomaso has unleashed a series of images along with a few more salient details of its new SLC concept car. Well, actually, De Tomaso is now referring to the machine as the SLS (and no, it has nothing to do with the Mercedes-Benz of the same name), which stands for Sport Luxury Sedan, as opposed to SLC, or Sport Luxury Crossover.
Fret not, Benz fans (and trademark lawyers). De Tomaso says it will give its future production model a new name that will be announced in Geneva.
Irrational naming conventions aside, what we have here is a somewhat high-riding humpback machine not unlike the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo. According to the company, two engines are planned at launch, a 300-horsepower V6 and a 550-horsepower V8. Power is sent to all four wheels, and a diesel engine option is planned for a later time.
De Tomaso plans to build two more vehicles on the same architecture with the goal of selling a total of 8,000 units per year. We're hoping to hear more about the marque's future plans after we hit the ground in Geneva. Barcelona to host final F1 test
The final test of the pre-season will take place at the Barcelona circuit following the cancellation of the Bahrain Grand Prix. Bahrain was scheduled to host the test from the start of next week, but with the news that the Sakhir event has been withdrawn, teams have decided to do all their winter testing in Spain.

Jeff Burton Wins Second Gatorade Duel for First Victory at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Jeff Burton, with help from teammate Clint Bowyer, swept to victory in the second Gatorade Duel Thursday at Daytona International Speedway.
It was the first Speedweeks victory ever for the veteran driver, 43, from South Boston, Va.
Bowyer was second, followed by Michael Waltrip, Kyle Busch and surprising, unsponsored Brian Keselowski, who got a big push from his little brother, Brad, to become the most unlikely top-five finisher in a Sprint Cup race in quite awhile. Full results are here.
In the first Gatorade Duel, Kurt Busch captured the checkered flag.
"It's a shame two cars can't fit in here (in victory lane)," Burton said. "With the way things are going (with the two-car draft), Clint and I decided we were just going to find each other early and it worked out for both of us. For us, it was a great start (to the season)."
Waltrip's finish put him in his 25th consecutive Daytona 500. Waltrip and Brian Keselowski were the two drivers who raced their way into the 500 by virtue of their finishes in the second Duel.
"They like to put a car together at MWR (Michael Waltrip Racing) for the old man," Waltrip said. "To race in the Daytona 500 is just such a great opportunity. I'm certainly proud we have a fast car. We're going to be up in the middle of all that mess."
Bowyer said, "I don't know if there will be another rule change. It was fun out there. Obviously, you always want to win, but I probably should have made my move a little earlier."
As Burton took the checkered flag, Trevor Bayne and Jeff Gordon lost control of their two-car draft and Bayne spun into David Ragan, sending them both spinning.

Cooling adjusted for Daytona 500
NASCAR officials have issued last-minute technical changes affecting the cooling of Sprint Cup cars ahead of Sunday's Daytona 500. Following restrictions imposed to the front grille opening for radiators after last week's Budweiser Shootout, NASCAR has gone back slightly on its measures to give a bit more cooling to the cars when they race for the first time in a full field.

Young Driver retains Turner, Mucke
Young Driver Aston Martin has completed its 2011 GT1 World Championship line-up by retaining Darren Turner and Stefan Mucke alongside the already-announced Tomas Enge, and recruiting newcomer Alex Muller. Turner, Mucke and Enge are all long-time factory Aston drivers, and were part of Young Driver's squad in the inaugural World GT1 series last year. This season will see Turner and Enge's partnership split up, with Turner joining Mucke in the #8 car, formerly shared with Christoffer Nygaard, while Muller joins Enge in the #7 Aston after appearing with Mad-Croc Corvette and Hegersport Maserati last year.

Tonio Liuzzi says he is confident that Hispania can deliver a good car for the 2011 season, as he prepares to make a bid for the team's vacant second seat in testing at Catalunya tomorrow.
